Surviving winter in Noosa ...... no this is not a joke!

Anyone else throw out all their cosy winter gear when they moved to Noosa?  If you are currently thinking about it.....don't do it!

We got rid of most of our winter gear we stupidly thought we wouldn't need scarfes, jackets, boots or jumpers.  We laughed at the winter clothes in ths shops and wondered why anyone would need any of that stuff on the Sunshine Coast.

We were wrong, so if you have moved to Noosa and this is your first winter consider this, houses here are not built for winter they are built to keep cool in summer. So here are my tips for staying cosy and coping with the crazy temperature difference between day and night time.

1.  Flannelette sheets, blankets and heavy winter duvets (doona's) are a must
2.  Hot water bottle (one of our members wraps her Pj's in hers to make them cosy)
3.  Good sheepskin slippers for all the family
4.  Learn to layer your clothing, Aussie women are great at layering and looking good.
5.  Go out and get some sun, your house will almost certainly be colder than it is outside.
6.  If you have tiles on your bathroom floor buy some bath mats they are warmer on your toes.

For me winter is the most stunning time of year in Noosa the mornings are fresh, days are warm and glorious, night times are cool.  Get out in the sun during the day and in the evening snuggle round the Chiminea with a nice glass of red whilst the kids toast marshmallows.  Bliss x

Saturday night out in Noosa

Don't you just love a good girls night out?  I do and once a month we get together for a regular dinner in Noosa, it is usually a good night and I get to learn more about the girls in the group.

When it comes to choice of restaurant it is usually down to me, but I try and go for somewhere that is reasonably priced and has been recommended, this month it was Arcuri which is in the RACQ Resort.

We had drinks and a chat in the bar before hand, the bar was quite swish and they had a nice cocktail menu but the service was slow, and we were waiting a while.  The Lychee Caprioska was delish and I would certainly have one of those again, but then Lychees are my thing just now ;o)

The food was good my duck was stunning and desert, although not pleasing to the eye, was also very good we went for the highlights deal which was good value

For me even though the food was good and the decor nice, the resort just has no atmosphere and I felt rushed.  We were hurried to our seats and then the bill was brought before we requested it, a big no no in my book.

Arcuri is nice for a quick meal for two but not for a large group who may want to linger and make a night of it....although can anyone tell me where is?

An instant social life for women

Life Beyond 30 - Noosa

Are you new to Noosa?  I was .... 6 years ago and really quite lonely.  Noosa is a stunning spot but I wanted to explore, linger while the sun set and share it with friends.

I missed my girlie network  aunts, mums, sisters, grandmas and mates, the people that you would normally turn to for advice and support, who you would share a glass of wine, bitch about your husband and laugh until you cried.

I thought that there must be more women in Noosa feeling like I was, so I put an ad in the paper and advertised for friends, the response was overwhelming.

Those first few days where so exhilarating and I would excitedly shout to my husband that "another email has came through!"  I couldn't wait to open them and find out who they were from.  I would like to take this chance to thank each and everyone of those girls (you know who you are) for answering that ad, you changed my life and that of my husbands!  Happy wife, happy Life ;o)

Life Beyond 30 now has 240 members and is steadily growing.

We are for ladies 30 years and older who have time on their hands and who want to socialise and get out and about with other women.  The group suits singles, women with older children, women who are retired anyone really who has spare time and who wants to do something with it.

If you are located in Noosa feeling a little lonely and are interested in the cinema, cocktails, walks and a bit of a giggle please get in touch all you have to do is go to our facebook page.

The worst thing that could happen is that we are not your cup of tea, the best thing......you could make lifelong friends.  I certainly have....
